Ingredients:

  • steeped pomegranate tea or any tea mixed with pomegranate juice to make it red (3-4 quarts)

  • 2 cups milk

  • 3 tbsp. sugar

  • 1 tbsp. instant coffee grinds

  • 2 tbsp. unflavored gelatin

  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract

Tools:

  • spherical ice mold (I bought mine for $1.50 at the Japanese dollar store)

Directions:

  1. Steep tea and set aside to cool.

  2. Sprinkle gelatin onto 7 tbsp. milk and allow to bloom.

  3. In a separate container add 7 tbsp. hot water to the instant coffee.

  4. Bring remaining milk and sugar to a boil.

  5. Save and scoop out a tsbp. of bloomed gelatin for the coffee mixture.

  6. Add remaining gelatin to boiling milk and stir until it dissolves. Turn off heat and add almond extract.

  7. Bring coffee mixture to a boil.

  8. Add gelatin to coffee mixture and boil until it dissolves.

  9. Grease sphere molds.

  10. Partially fill the bottoms of each ball mold with coffee mixture to create the pupils. Set in refrigerator.

  11. Once the pupils are set, add room temperature/slightly cool milk on top of the pupils. Place the top of the mold on and set in the refrigerator.

  12. Pull out eyeballs and place into a clear cup, glass or punch bowl and add red tea. Sip and enjoy!

Creep it Real,
