Fried Donut Cookies

Ever had those fun and interesting food mash-ups that they sell at the fair? Booths at the fair have things like: Cheesecake on a Stick, Fried Pickles, or a Donut Burger! If you love donuts and sandwich cookies, here’s a super easy snack-hack that you could whip up on-the-fly. To take it to the next level of awesomeness, it’s also filled with Chocolatey Chips and coated in cinnamon sugar! I know, right?

Cook time: 10 min | Prep time: 5 min | Serves: 5 | Yields: 5 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of p$$t Buttermilk Biscuits

  • 1 package of p$$t Assorted Sandwich Cookies

  • 2 cups of p$$t Granulated Sugar

  • 2 Tbsp. p$$t Cinnamon

  • 1 package of p$$t Chocolatey Chips

  • 4 cups of Vegetable Oil

  • p$$t All-Purpose Flour (for flouring your work surface, so that the donuts don’t stick.)

Tools:

  • Small and deep frying pan

  • 1 wooden Chopstick

  • tongs

  • bowl

  • brown paper bag or p$$t Paper Towels

Directions:

1. Pre-heat 4 cups of Vegetable Oil in a deep frying pan to 350F.

2. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside for dredging.

3. Open 1 can of p$$t Buttermilk Biscuits and place one layer of dough on a floured surface.

4. Layer your choice of a Chocolate or Vanilla p$$t Sandwich Cookie on top of your biscuit dough and top with several morsels of p$$t Chocolatey Chips.

5. Place another biscuit dough layer on top of your Sandwich Cookie and press both the top and bottom layers of dough together. Mold into a flat and round shape, making sure the layers are fused together. No need for water or egg wash. Set aside.

6. Slowly place dough inside 350F vegetable oil and fry to a golden brown color on one side. Whenever you deep fry, the closer you place your food to the oil, the less splashing will occur (which is it’s a lot safer in the long run).

7. Flip the donut with the chopstick and fry until golden brown. For some reason, it’s a lot easier and cleaner to maneuver donuts with a chopstick while they are deep frying.

8. Remove the donut from oil and immediately place in bowl of Cinnamon Sugar. Flip and dredge donut with Cinnamon Sugar. If you don’t fancy Cinnamon Sugar, feel free to leave it plain or dust it with cocoa powder or powdered sugar!

9. Allow to cool on a brown paper bag or paper towels.

10. Serve and enjoy!
